Bone Density Scans (Dexa)

Bone density scanning, also called dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) or bone densitometry, is an enhanced form of x-ray technology that is used to measure bone loss. DXA is today’s established standard for measuring bone mineral density (BMD).

Dexa scanning is recommended for all females age 65 and older, and in males or younger postmenopausal females if risk factors for osteoporosis exist. Ask your doctor if you qualify for screening.
